It all started when my father, Mr Raymond Quinn, started in carpets in the early 60s as a carpet fitter.

He worked for a Liverpool family-owned carpet and furniture shop called George F Knowles, supplying carpets to family households in and around the Liverpool area. In those days, only the wealthy could afford to buy carpets.

In the late 80s, he then went on to work for many local Liverpool carpet shops.

When I left school, I started working with my dad as an apprentice at the age of 16 straight away. My father taught me how to fit carpets and also how to look after his customers while learning the flooring trade.

It was tough!!!

As I became more experienced a few years later, I wanted more work for me and my dad and to take on more carpet fitters. So I bought a fax machine — and it worked!!!

I sent faxes to companies throughout the UK and across the world. We then received contracts and worked as a team internationally across the globe for big hotel chains and cruise line companies.

We worked for many years, making amazing memories as a father-and-son team. But then my children came along — Aaron & Reece.

I then had to change tactics, and Carpets2u.com was born in 2013, serving as a mobile carpet store that comes to your door.

My father still worked with me alongside my boys — it was fab!!!

My father, Raymond Quinn, worked with me and my boys until he was 73, as he didn’t believe in not working. Unfortunately, he passed away at the age of 74.

His motto was:
“You are only as good as your last job.”
